Meet the Governors
Why did you decide to become a Governor at North Ealing Primary School?
As the Head teacher of NES it is my responsibility to work closely with the governing body to ensure that they are informed about the context and effectiveness of the school. I have found it particularly useful to have a shared understanding of the vision of the school with the Governing body, drawing on their expertise in order to support that vision. It is also critical that as the Head teacher I keep up to date with local and national issues and bring governors attention to matters of immediate importance.
What do you think that Governors can bring to North Ealing Primary School?
In my role as the Head teacher I provide the Governing body with an accurate self evaluation of the standards and overall effectiveness of the school. It is essential in this role that I support the Governing body to carry out their statutory duties such as safeguarding but also work with the governors in order to contribute to the school’s self evaluation process, understanding strengths and weaknesses. It is also essential that in the role of Head teacher I engage with the governing body to engage all stakeholders within the North Ealing community.
What are your interests in Education
Since gaining qualified teacher status in 1992 I have had a varied and successful teaching career across a range of primary schools. In my previous role as an advisory teacher I developed a keen awareness of how to improve teaching and learning which I have successfully applied at North Ealing. In my current position I have had access to a wide range of professional development enhancing my leadership skills, knowledge and understanding of the key elements of raising standards within a primary school. My particular interests include the EYFS, child development and Inclusion. I am keen to develop an evidence based approach to improving practice and for peers to offer a comprehensive system of support within North Ealing and eventually beyond to other schools and teachers in training.
